This homemade costume for boys entered our 2023 Halloween Costume Contest.
A word from Michaela, the 'Roomba' costume creator:
My son, Spencer, is 3 1/2 years old. He is obsessed with robotic vacuums. He watches videos online of different ones, but when he sees one in person, he runs from it. Regardless, he was insistent that he dress as a Roomba for Halloween.
I cut two circles out of a box and measured around his waist and made a circle in the middle. I cut a pool noodle in little sections and glued them as supports between the two sections. Then I made paper mache to create the outside of the vacuum. After two layers, we painted it black. We put shiny duct tape around the outside and used my Cricut to cut "buttons" and a logo. I made "tags" on the bottom with the duct tape and we attached a pair of suspenders. After a few times of wearing it, we made a matching shirt with the cricut as well, but I didn't get a good picture of him with it on. He was actually sick on Halloween, so he went to his brother's bedroom and to us around the house to go trick or treating that night.
He was thrilled with his costume and got several complements.
