This homemade costume for women entered our 2020 Halloween Costume Contest,
A word from Marin, the 'Salem Witch' costume creator:
I visited Salem, MA for the first time this year and was inspired to create a “witch” burning at the stake costume. After using a very basic pattern to sew a generic “puritan” dress, apron, collar and hat, I created a flame graphic and had it printed on transparent paper (at fedex Kinkos). I then cut out and very meticulously glued the flames to felt and then sewed the felt to the dress and apron. I then purchased a bale of hay and carefully hot glues each piece of straw to the bottom of the dress. I purchased a hoop skirt, and 15mm rope online for the final touches.
