Samara from "The Ring" Costume

I wanted to be scary this year, so I decided to dress up as Samara from the movie "The Ring" but wanted to capture the part that terrified me the most, her coming out of the TV. I used the front of a real TV and VCR and created the rest out of EVA foam to keep things light. Everything was supported by a belt around my waist. The "cabinet" portion attached to the belt, with fabric from my knees down that connected with velcro to allow me to move while still creating the look of a TV cabinet base. The TV and table top it sat on then locked into the top of it. Lastly, I added carefully placed LEDs to create the tv glow, which worked like a “curtain” so when my hand or body reached past it I appeared to be coming out! Makeup completed the look!
