A word from Leslie, the 'Seattle Sweets' costume creator:
For Halloween, my kids decided that they wanted to represent their favorite places in Seattle to buy sweets. One wanted to represent her favorite cupcake bakery, another wanted to be from an ice cream shop, and my son wanted to be from a donut shop. Together, they were Seattle Sweets.
The cupcake was very simple to make. I bought a cheap lamp shade and covered it in strips of brown felt. Next, I put suspenders on it and covered the suspenders in batting. Under the lampshade, she wore a leotard that I wrapped in batting and decorated with rhinestone sprinkles. A headband with a cupcake on it and she was done. The ice cream cone was made out of all felt. The patterns can be found on the Better Homes and Gardens website.
My son's donut costume was made from two large circles sewn together and decorated with fabric frosting and sprinkles. A second donut was made for his backside and suspenders attached the two donuts to hang over his shoulders. His headpiece is a stack of smaller felt donuts attached to a headband.
