A word from Susan, the 'Sonic' costume creator:
My son wanted to be sonic. First we used an d helmet and stuffed it with news paper to get the shape of the head and wrapped it on plastic wrap. Then once we got the shape we paper mached it. Then used wire we had at home to shape the spikes and ears. When it was dry we used tin foil to shape the face and paper mached it all again. Spray painted and painted the face. Cut out the eyes. We had some old sheer curtains we used so he could see through. His shoes are red craft foam and white duct tape with yellow belt cut out of foam. Used blue tshirt and he is wearing a long sleeve light skin colour shirt. Made some spikes for shirt and tail and stuffed it with something light like tissue paper glued the spikes and tail on.
Amy made the face and glued it on a toque. Spray painted gold rings used as bracelet. Hammer was made out of rolled up card board with Bristol board around it and spray painted 2 pie tins for end. Found a wooden handle for it.
For tails we found dog toy stuffy we cut stuffed and sewed. Made some yellow ears and found yellow clothes for $10 at value village.
Eggman took a red sweater and cut heat transfer vinyl. Made the mustache with yarn and used double sided tape to stick it on.
Shadow we cut and put face on Bristol board.
Rouge the bat. We found white ears and cut out a heart from card stock for the chest.
