A word from Mariah, the 'Spaghetti and Meatballs' costume creator:
One of my favorite movies is Lady and the Tramp and since I have a cocker spaniel (Jensen), it seemed like a no brainer to make him a spaghetti and meatball costumes. It also didn't hurt that Jensen's all time favorite human food is spaghetti. This was my first attempt at making a costume. I found chenille yarn in the perfect shade to look like the noddles. I cut the yarn up into small pieces and glued it randomly all over a red t-shirt allowing some of the red to show through so it looked like spaghetti in the sauce. I then took small foam balls and pressed a raised stencil I use for scrapbooking all over them so they had some texture. I painted the foam balls brown and put shiny mod podge on top so they'd look like meatballs. I added the meatballs to the shirt saving one for Jensen's hat. For the hat I cut a circle out of red felt and glued the yarn to the top, stacking the pieces on top of each other and letting a few strands hang over the sides. Once the yarn noodles were all on, I added the last foam meatball to the top of the hat. The costume was a little challenging to get on and off because of all the glue I used, but once it was on, Jensen didn't mind wearing it at all. And he loved all the attention he got. In total this costume cost about $30 to make and since I could only glue down one layer of yarn to the shirt and paint a layer of the foam balls at a time, I worked on it every evening for about a week
