A word from Sharon, the 'Spaghetti & Meatballs' costume creator:
This is my 12-year-old Yorkie, Laila. She is ill with Cushings disease and I've been trying to do more fun things with her. She is very social and had a great time at the Pet Costume Festival. She brought home the Funniest Costume and a $50 gift card to her groomer. She loved all the attention.
I purchased a knit hat on Amazon for about $5. I opened up the seam at the top and because it was doubled, I was able to open it up and make it longer. I cut out holes for her front paws and shaped the back. I cut a small hole in the front by her head. I glued yarn all over with a glue gun and then topped that with "sauce." The meatballs were made with small styrofoam balls painted brown and topped with red paint. I glued the meatballs randomly reserving one which I glued a small rubber band onto. I tied that meatball in her hair on top of her head. When I put the costume on, I put that ball through the small hole I had cut in the front. That kept it on her head. I also cut a small hole to thread her leash through. It took me about 2 hours to make and because I had the yarn, only about $2 for the balls and .39 for the felt. Under $8 total!
