A word from Kelsi, the 'Spirit of St. Louis' costume creator:
My 20 month old son, Easton Conner, is wearing the costume. Growing up my three siblings and I always had homemade Halloween costume. I did not get the creative gene so I went to Wal-Mart and bought a Pirate costume. My mother about died. She insisted that Easton would indeed have a homemade costume for as long as she lived. We first decided we wanted to incorporate his wagon in some way. Being from St. Louis my brother came up with the idea of making it into an airplane. Therefore, Easton would be a pilot. When my brother got home from Afghanistan him and my dad set to work on the airplane. They first framed around the wagon, then used cardboard for the sides. My mom did the lettering and my dad used ceiling fan blades as the propellers. He also used a metal dog bowl for the front end. My mom was in charge of finding goggles, a hat and a pilot jacket.
My tip is to spray the paint on before you have it on the wagon. Or else you get overspray on your $50.00 wagon :(
