The Cat in the Hat Costume

This is my 5 year old niece, Lillyana. This year we decided to make our own Halloween costumes. She decided to be The Cat in The Hat. I used a black long sleeved shirt, black leggings, cat ears, a cat tail , toilet paper roll, hot glue gun, and a red bow that we already had at home. I bought red and white felt for .50 cents a sheet at a local art store, red and white socks for $1 and face paint crayons for $1.50. Total spent on this homemade costume $4! I began with the toilet paper for the hat. Cut white felt and glued it around the toilet paper roll, then cut strips of red feltand gglued it accordingly. Glued it onto the cat ears. Took white felt cut it to fit the collar of her shirt, glued it to her shirt, glued the bow on and cut a piece of red felt to add to the additional part of the cat in the hat bowtie. Pinned a cat tail to the back of her leggings and drew some cat whiskers on her face and put the striped socks on to give it an extra pop! Took 1 hour and this beats any store bought costume :)
