A word from Susitina, the 'The Flintstones' costume creator:
This is my daughter Maleia and my son Sebastian as Wilma and Fred Flinstones. My sister came up with the idea as she was flipping through costume ideas for of my kids to have the same theme . My daughters (Wilma) costumes is one piece of fabric (suede like) that she wrapped my daughter in and used safety pins to pin where she wanted the fabric to fit. She used no needle or thread, no sewing just safety pins. She purchased the pearls from micheals and used colored hair spray for her hair after using tons of jail and hair spray to keep her hair in place. For her shawl we got half a yard of cheetah print fabric and cut two wholes for her arms and put it on. My sons (Fred) costume is also a piece of square fabric that she had folded in half, cut in the middle(where his head would go through) and cut the sides in to thin pieces down the side and then braided it inside out so she didn't need safety pins . The tie was my little sisters shirt that she was wearing (so we made her give it up) and we cut and pinned to the circle that's sister had cut earlier to Creat the tie. We then got fabric which had a sister like back to it, cut out the little dots and stuck them to the front of the costume . For both costumes it cost under $40.00
