The Huntress Costume

This is my Huntress costume, which I am wearing. This version of the Huntress is from the new Rebirth series from DC comics called Batgirl and the Birds of Prey.

The coat was handmade by my sister, who is extremely talented. She spent a long time making it.

The mask was made from homemade worbla, and the white eyes were achieved by airbrushing a steel mesh oil filter white and gluing to the back of the mask.

The crossbow was made from EVA foam and metal joints, which allow the crossbow to fully collapse. There is also a Velcro attachment on the crossbow and the gauntlet so that it can fold up and be attached to the gauntlet.

The gauntlets and arrows were made out of EVA foam, craft foam, and wooden dowels. I layered the craft foam on top of the EVA foam to get the layered detail, and I glued the arrows down to the right gantlet before layering the craft foam on top, forming the quiver. I left one arrow accessible for photos, though.

To make the boots, I layered craft foam over some plain black boots then attached the straps that go across.

I have worn this costume to two comic cons so far, and I have had great reactions to it! One of my favorite interactions was with someone who was dressed up as the Question (Huntress' long-time boyfriend in the comics). It was really fun taking pictures together.
