A word from Sarah, the 'The Little Mermaid' costume creator:
My name is Sarah Harley and for Halloween this year I dressed up as Ariel from The Little Mermaid. The idea came from an accidental dye job to my hair that made my co-workers start calling me by the famous Disney character's name. The costume was generally extremely easy to make. The flounder purse was created from felt and the outline was drawn completely free-handed. The purse is complemented by a blue ribbon and making blue zipper. The tail is made from a scale-like fabric that was made to fit like a pencil skirt then I attached strips of tulle at the bottom and a line of sparkles to make the seem disappear. Next I created the bra which I used a strapless tan bra and attached two spray painted Hawaiian shells and individually glued multiple rhinestones. Lastly, I created the hair piece which was made from a purple hair accessory and a real starfish that was painted blue and decorated with multiple sparkles. I really enjoyed making this costume and really feel as though I fit the part of The Little Mermaid very well!
