A word from Amy, the 'The March Hare' costume creator:
My kids were all being character's from Alice in Wonderland last year and my youngest was the March Hare. To make his ears I got a headband, wire, some pink fabric and a teddy bear from Goodwill. For this I had to kill the poor teddy bear so I could use his fur for the fur on the March Hare's ears (sorry Mr. teddy bear!). I drew out a rabbit ear and then used that as a pattern. I cut 2 ear pieces from the teddy bear fur and then 2 from the pink fabric for the inside of the ears. Then I took some wire and shaped it into ears and put that inside the sewn ears with some extra wire sticking out the bottom. Then I wrapped the extra wire around the headband the cut some more bear fur to fit around the headband and hand sewed it around the head band. Tadaa! Rabbit Ears! I found a suit and dress shirt at Savers for his clothes and then I shortened the pants because the March Hare's pants are a shorter length than normal pants. For the bow tie I got some orange ribbon, sewed 3 strips together to make it extra fat and then made a bow with it. Then I attached the bow to matching Bias tape and then attached some hook and eyes to the back so we could secure it around his neck. Then I just bought some Halloween face paint and painted his face up like the March Hare and he was done!
