A word from Den, the 'The Midnight Bride' costume creator:
My name is Geraldine "Den" Argao and I'm the one who designed and created this piece including hair and make up. I'm also the one wearing them.
Black is everything to me and it's always been my happy color. I have always dreamed of a black wedding and this is how I wanted my gown to look like. But for now, it will be used for a Halloween costume until I found my future groom. :)
Here's how I made them:
1. I sketched it first
2. Then I used crepe paper for the headdress and some plastic poinsettia from our Christmas tree. Then just put them together with wires, glue sticks and liquid glue.
Note: Headdress requires more time and effort. Since I started from scratch, it took me 8 hours just for it.
3. The skull is just from a plastic kiddie headband.
4. The blouse is just a lingerie and the skirt is from the surplus store that I just matched together.
5. For the veil, it's a piece of cloth I sewn all together.
6. Makeup may take time if you want to achieve a spooky look. If you want to draw a skull just trace your facial bones, you'll get there. Also please make sure to buy a face paint, not any other paint, otherwise, it can irritate your skin.
The BEST part of this piece is while I'm making them. It gave me great pleasure and happiness. I really had fun making them and I achieved the look I really wanted. So I'm really happy!
I spent around $34 on all of it.
Thank you very much!
Sincerely,
Den Argao
