A word from Josie, the 'The Pokey Porcupine' costume creator:
My son was a porcupine for 2020 Halloween! We got the idea because we live on the ranch and he always shouts porky when we see one! We bought a use elephant costume and used the body suit and bought two felt pads, and flower pot fillers for the quills. Poked small holes in the felt and hot glued the back end so the quills could not be pulled through. Then glued the other felt pad as backing the glued Velcro to the solid back felt pad. Then placed the other end of the Velcro to his back on the body suit. We did this so we could easy take the quills on and off while in the car seat going house to house and Halloween activities. The head piece was the elephant head we removed the floppy ears, the trunk and tusks. Which left the grey hood, then again cut small slits and punched through the “hair”. The hair was greenery painted white and black to resemble porcupine head hair. He had shoes on inside the costume as well.
