The Red Macaw Dog Costume

I wanted to do something flashy, noticeable, and unique for my dog, Ivy's, costume this year. I had no idea what to do, but the idea came to me; a red macaw bird costume! I am not sure how that popped into my mind, but I knew it would be so cute and really awesome looking when it was done, so I started planning right away.

What I did to make this costume, was I first sewed and shaped red fabric around my dog. After that, I bought about 1000 red, blue, yellow, and green feathers and hot glued each and every one in the exact pattern of what a real red macaw . I went through so many glue sticks, so many burnt fingers, and so many hours of hard work to create the feather part of it. Next, I created two, small wings out of popsicle sticks and fabric and propped them up so they stuck out and I covered them with feathers. Lastly, I shaped a head piece out of red fabric, covered it with red feathers, and the costume was done!

Well, the reaction my dog gave me, was ,"Get this thing off of me!!" and she started rolling around to get it off, but peoples reactions were surprising. Everyone thought that it was so cool and now they want to ask what we are making her next year! So many people wanted to take pictures of her and everyone said that she was so cute and all of that. They were wishing that Halloween Express or some other place would make a red macaw costume so their pets could be just like Ivy!

I only kept the costume on to take pictures and show people, because, like pretty much all labradors, they can mellow at times, but keeping a costume on is not for them! All my dog wanted to do was rub against everything to get it off so, at least I got some fine pictures. I hope you like it!
