The Shredder Costume

I wanted to finally do a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles costume this year and I opted for their arch enemy, Shredder.

I took a Halloween knight’s helmet and aligned it with pieces if adhesived material from the Dollar Tree that had an interesting design. Especially when it came to imitating that starfish shape at the top of the helmet. I used an inside out dollar store mask as the mask itself. Having used a unique plastic film from a craft store to cover the mask, while it looked good originally, it did not stay on.

Silver shiny plastic adhesive hooks were used on my forearms and shins and shoulders to simulate blades. If you look closely, a couple of metal pieces also from the dollar store were used for the primary metallic claws, matted down by athletic tape. I wanted to give the illusion of previous combat, hence having one of my forearms already wrapped in a faux bloodied sleeve.
