The Spooky House Gang Costume

This is my 2022 group costume! Every year I design costumes and make ups for my family to entertain the Trick or Treaters in my neighborhood! This year I decided on a skull / skeleton / voodoo gang . I created each design and costume. The make ups are all hand painted. My make up took about 2 hours consisting of a skull face , neck and chest with a Cobra intertwined within the skull . I fashioned the wig into the look I wanted. I made the skirt by hand with tulle and ribbon accents.
My husband is the tall bald skull. His make up took about an hour. The kids were each designed to coordinate with us . The girls were day of the dead inspired , while the boys were voodoo make up inspired . “Papa Legba” inspired make up is my son with the skull and bones hat that I designed and made. Each of the kids took about an hour to complete.

We named ourselves The Spooky House Gang because of the children we over heard saying “ this is the soooky house !” I am so happy to be the Spooky house as my dads house growing up was also the spooky house ! My husband does a light show for the kids and we work together to make what we want to be a super fun experience for the kids ! My characters being a part of that experience. You will always see some dancing and goofing at The a Spooky House ! I want to encourage creativity and imagination in our youth. Art is such an important part of brain development in children . I hope that I can inspire just one or two kids along the way to create, to imagine and the dance like no one is watching !
