The Statue of Liberty and Uncle Sam Ride a Firecracker Costume

Phoenix and Gryphon are going for a patriotic ride in the sky on a giant firecracker. Phoenix is Lady Liberty, with a green dress, crown and torch. Her legs were created by stuffing green tights and adding sandals, which were painted green. Gryphon is Uncle Sam with a blue shirt, striped pants, flag hat, and white beard. His arms and legs were stuffed, with black shoes added. The firecracker they are riding on was made from felt, foamboard, and posterboard. Uncle Sam and Lady Liberty’s legs were attached to the front of their outfits and then attached to the firecracker, to give the illusion they were riding it.
