A word from Charlene, the 'The Ultimate Claw Machine' costume creator:
This costume is called the Ultimate Claw Machine.
The costume is being worn by Kamryn Fox 8yrs I am his grandmother (charlene Fox and both of us made this Ultimate claw machine.
This costume was made from simple materials from home we started of by making the bottom from a cardboard box the top frame is made from Brake cable that we formed into a square and topped the top with cardboard box, we wrapped mesh net roll to make the glass effect. The claw and lever handle was made from parts of a munchkin sprout bottle drying rack and topped the lever handle with a superball, added a foam brush to act as the push button and the prize door is from a mini Junk organizer. The coin dispenser is from styrofoam that we covered with glue and sprinkled glitter on and added stickered number to. The toys inside were from fast food kids meals that are glued down. We added sticker letters to form words to the project and then added a trick or treat bag that we connected to a wired coat hanger that is inside the cardboard box so he can open and close the bag by pushing and pulling the handles. To make it comfortable to wear on his shoulders we took another wired coat hanger formed it into a U shape and inserted the wire into large sponges and glued it to the inside of the box. For night time trick or treating we added LED String lights so it lights up at night.
My grandson who is 8 loves to try to win prizes from local claw machines at our local stores that one day I said to him " why don't we try making one for a halloween costume" He thought it was a great idea and it was something that he could do alot of work on. So we took a pic of a claw machine worked on gathering items from home and went to work on it.
We participated in our first trunk or treat / costume parade on 10-18-2018 and was amazed at the compliments from and comments people were telling him. He received words of " what a great idea" to OMG did you make that? and alot of what an amazing job you did. He was very proud of the work he did and we had fun making it together. The cost of this costume cost us $6.49 we bought stars stickers and LED lights the rest of materials were from home that were unused from other projects.
