A word from Christian, the 'The Abomination' costume creator:
This is my Halloween costume for this year. I've never gotten to do anything really outstanding for a costume and love the Halloween season. The idea came from when I was 13 years old, I went to a renaissance festival and there was a giant tree man/"treant" walking around and I've always wanted to recreate it but ended up making my own unique concept of it.
How to...
Used many cans of "Great Stuff" spray foam for the back, arms, head, and feet. The arms have crutches inside of cardboard with the foam sprayed over it for bark effect. The head was a craft mask with foam sprayed over and sculpted to shape. It also has led lights to light up the eyes with Amber colored stones for an aged sap effect. The back is made of the foam sculpted and covered in real moss with a fake tree cut up and placed inside for more foliage effect. The upper legs are a pair of pants with foam cut, sculpted and sewn on. The lower legs are homemade stilts made from a 2x4 and an old pair of shoes, they were then wrapped in sheet foam and sprayed with spray foam for effect. everything was then painted and other small effects were added that were bought from Hobby Lobby.
