A word from Natalie, the 'The Grotesque Bat Woman' costume creator:
I, Natalie, am wearing the costume. I created the whole thing myself from recycled clothing and raw fabrics. I made the jacket with pieces from a thrift dress and thrift jacket. The high shoulders were made with shoulder pads and the sleeves from the thrift dress and I trimmed the whole jacket by hand. I added patchwork wings as well. The hoop skirt was made from steel hoop boning painted black and satin ribbon. The scarf and head piece were all assembled and designed by me, as well as the belt. The idea came from the prosthetic face piece I am wearing. I found that piece and came up with the idea from there. I decided to be a bat woman/creature in a sideshow. The total cost was about $500. That included materials, teeth, contacts, facial prosthetic, and make up kit.
