A word from Daniel, the 'The Joker' costume creator:
I, Daniel Stieber, am wearing the Joker costume. I am a huge Batman Fan and always wanted to dress up like the Joker ever since I'd seen The Dark Knight and Heath Ledger's incredible performance in the movie. It took about 4 weeks to get all the materials together. I started by purchasing a light gray trench coat, gray suit pants, black leather vest, dark pattern shirt, and brown shoes, almost identical to the ones in the movie, at Goodwill.
I dyed the trench coat and pants in 2 bottles of purple dye I bought at Walmart for about 6 bucks. As for the vest I painted that 2 different times to obtain the closest color from the vest in the movie for the cheapest amount. First painting it with 2 coats of dark green acrylic paint and then 2 coats of leaf green acrylic paint to blend it in and obtain an older used look. (The paint alone would dry and crack so I had to find a mixture of water and paint about 10% water, 90% paint to make it more flexible and more material like). The next part I find is the most important piece so i ordered the wig, makeup, and gloves online for about $25. I had a lot of fun making this project for a relatively cheap price compared to authentic costumes I found everywhere online. My final approximate price was $85.
