Thomas the Number 1 Tank Engine Costume

Our 2.5 year old daughter is OBSESSED with Thomas and Friends so we knew we needed to make her dreams come true with this costume. Unfortunately, all the ones pre-made on the market were not up to par with our standards. My husband found a cardboard box just her size. We used paint and a lot of hot glue to make the main frame of this costume. From there we added dimensions using scrap cardboard and a circle gift box to make the face 3 dimensional. For the markings we used red paper cut into thin strips that we glued on. For the funnel we used a paper towel tube and for the buffers we used recycled lids and painted them. We used striped ribbon for the straps and screwed them into the cardboard for durability. About 95% of the costume consists of items we had lying around the house. She was elated with the costume and it now lives in her room so she can see Thomas everyday!
