A word from Brittany, the 'Tornado' costume creator:
My 7 year old son Granderson, or Grandy for short, has autism and has always had obsessions with "odd" objects. His current obsession is the weather so I wasn't surprised when he told me he wanted to be a tornado for Halloween this year. In the past he has been a microwave, deck, and fire alarm. It took me a few days to find the supplies I needed. I used a tomato cage wrapped in batting made for quilts then overlaid that with fake spider webs to create a "swirl" effect. I then spray painted it Grey and sewed in little toys (fence, trees, leaves etc) around it. I used a flashlight (with a strobe) as a necklace to simulate lightning coming from the inside. The total cost was less than $7.00! I love being able to bring my son's creative ideas to life!
