A word from Thuy, the 'Tron Legacy' costume creator:
My son loved the movie Tron: Legacy so I came up with the idea to make a costume to resemble the main character Sam Flynn’s glowing suit. I started with a black youth motorcycle helmet I got off of Amazon. I hot-glued ice blue El Wire all along the edges and then dug a spot within the padding of the inside of the helmet to hide the battery pack (which when turned on, makes it glow). Then I bought a black youth athletic/thermal long sleeve undershirt and black athletic joggers as the base for the “bodysuit”. I took ice blue El Panels and cut them into the shapes that resembled the panels on Sam Flynn’s bodysuit in the movie. El Panels were made for the front chest, back, sleeves, and front of the pants. I used E6000 glue to glue the panels onto the shirt and pants. The El Panels all had separate wires that I had inserted onto the inside of the clothes, connected them with El Wire splitters, and then connected it all to a battery pack to make the panels glow when turned on. The battery pack fit inside one of the pockets of the pair of jogger pants that I used as part of the “bodysuit”. I bought a pair of black youth motorcycle/racing gloves and cut out the middle and ring finger parts of the gloves to resemble Sam Flynn’s. To finish off the costume, I bought a Tron disc/frisbee toy and hot-glued ice blue El Wire along the edges of the disc and attached the battery pack to the underside of the disc/frisbee. When all the battery packs were filled with the appropriate batteries and switched on, my son turned into a glowing Tron: Legacy/Sam Flynn character for Halloween! All that was missing was a glowing motorcycle for him to ride on (maybe another year - haha).
