A word from Corrine, the 'Twin Minions' costume creator:
My 3 year old twins, Derek and Jason, asked to be Minions for Halloween....so....I made them "real" Minions! I didn't have an idea of what they would look like from beginning and just took it step by step. The base of the costume had to be lightweight so I used 9" x 11" 6mm foam boards and duct taped them together into a tube. I cut arm holes and holes where I was going to place the eyes. I covered the tube in yellow felt with a hot glue gun and glued the material indide the cut arm holes. I sewed overalls and then glued them to the yellow tube. The bottom of the overalls had to have the rounded appearance so I finished it with elastic and made pants for underneith. The eye goggles are made from thick cut cardboard and silver tape and those were glued to the minion around the eye cutouts. I used black material to make shoe covers, band for the goggles and gloves. The head is made from glued together strips of foam board covered in felt with fuzzy pipe cleaners as the hair. The mouth was cut out from the inside and the remaining fabric was tucked in the mouth and glued. The teeth were made from hard glittered felt and glued yo the inside of the mouth. The total costumes were brought together by adding the Gru symbol and my adorable twins. We have already had about 60 requests to make costumes and a million compliments. They totally stole the show and I'm one proud mama!!! :)
