Unicorn Rider Costume

My 4 year old daughter, Zoe, wanted to ride a unicorn for Halloween. Like many kids, she is very into unicorns. She did not want to go with a traditional white horse. Instead she picked out a pastel tie-dye fleece fabric. I used a modified version of a horse puppet pattern to create the head of the unicorn and drew the rest out freehand. I used sparkle pink and purple yarn that I had on hand as well as a few other scraps of fabric to make the horn and hooves. I kept the reigns long and added velcro to the ends so that they could wrap around Zoe and attach to themselves under her sweatshirt for easy removal. We cut a pair of old leggings with a pair of sneakers attached to the bottoms to create the illusion that Zoe was sitting on the unicorn's back. In all the costume cost just under $15. Zoe was thrilled to get to ride her unicorn around town.
