A word from Donica, the 'Ursula the Sea Witch' costume creator:
I chose to be Ursula the sea witch as part of a group costume with my sisters of Disney Villains. I made my entire costume myself using an old bridesmaid dress for the purple, recreating an old witches costume dress, and extra black costume velvet I had to buy. The tentacles were made like a skirt/apron that unhooked in the back so I could remove them to drive, sit, or use the bathroom! I stuffed them with quilt batting scraps from my mom and a wire hanger frame that I crafted for each tentacle. The bottom purple was the bridesmaid dress my sister gave me that she wore in my wedding. The top was the black velvet that I had to purchase and matched the witches dress redo. The dress was a bit simpler. I was able to remove the corset like top and replace it with black velvet. Just had to cut off the gray chiffon on the arms and then cut out the front panel and sewed the seam. The jewelry was made with real shells painted to match Ursula. My wig was bought at a Halloween store. I spent about $100 and 42 hours making this costume.
