A word from Marla, the 'Velma and Scoobie' costume creator:
My special needs daughter is dressed to be VELMA, riding in the MYSTERY MACHINE with Scoobie. Being unable to walk, everything she does is from her wheelchair. Because she is medically fragile, I have to be able to control the weather when she is outside. The cardboard box is ideal. After cutting out windows and windshield, spray paint was used. Decals were cut from posterboard. Luggage rack is old bath chair pieces. Lights are from tea lites with Velcro so they can be removed to turn on switches. I did reinforce a couple places with a 1x2 that I got for 98 cents. Made axles with that also. I used long gripper ties to suspend wheels in the front. Box rested on pushbar in back. Maddy is 11 and lives with me(her mom) and her 14 yr old sister. We had a lot of things to fall off but graduated from hot glue to rivets to screws till stuff started staying in place. Lots of laughs with this project. Always make sure the finished project will got through the door.
