A word from Tracy, the 'Washing Machine' costume creator:
My 7 year old daughter Jaelynn will be a washing machine this year. I wanted to make her something creative because I'm sooo tired of seeing the usual princesses & superheros. The costume cost about $12 to make. The materials I used were: a cardboard box, computer paper, a kitchen timer (from the dollar store), a Rubbermaid take along plastic bowl, a hamper, and duct tape. I also used laminating paper after I was done to try to make it stronger in case it rains. I took the box & cut out head & arm holes. Next, I cut a hole in the bottom of the hamper to put her head through. Then, I took the Rubbermaid bowl filled with old clothes & cut a hole in the front of the box to fit it. I used duct tape to secure it inside. I covered the rest of the box with white paper & taped on the Maytag logo. Then, I secured the Tide and Shout bottles with duct tape. The last step was putting the laminating sheets over the white paper.
