This homemade costume for pets entered our 2015 Halloween Costume Contest.
A word from Irene, the 'Wayne & Garth' costume creator:
My name is Irene, I am the human. Ernie is my dog and partner in crime!
MINIONS
Two cylinder clothes hampers make the body, 4 spray-painted wigs make the hair, two gallon ice cream buckets make the goggles, Styrofoam make the teeth, piping makes the arms, and A LOT OF FELT/GLUE/CARDBOARD/ETC :). I am 5'3" and my face is in the black part of the mouth, with a see-through (kind of) fabric. So I stand very tall and have to crouch to get through doors! This took A TON of time, planning, and changing of plans. This is one of my more complicated costumes (even putting it on), and it ended up being about $70 in materials and about $20 for Ernie's costume.
RUSSELL & DUG
Yellow shirt, fabric, a wig, etc are all pretty straightforward. This is a relatively straightforward costume-- most materials I had or found second-hand. The most intricate part is the badges, which is made with wooden circles and markers. Ernie just has a paper towel around him, which simulates his cone of shame. About $35.
WAYNE & GARTH
This was all with stuff around the house or already owned. If I were to buy everything new, would be about $30. Shirt for me, shirt for the dog, pipe cleaners for his glasses, and the hat.
