We Are Emoji Costume

Hi everyone My name is Curtis Hester. In 2017 it is hard to imagine a time before cell phones, and text conversations. So as I watched my children and pretty much every other person on the planet using emojis to communicate...I thought wouldn't it be funny if people saw me dressed us an emoji(s). I made 15% of NYC look up and see what they usually see looking down. How cool is that!!! Let me say, I absolutely love lighting. So when I saw a few houses in my neighborhood with Acrylic globe lamps... the idea for these costumes were a go.Everything was homemade: with the exception of the acrylic globes (1000bulbs.com $40each) Most of the other parts of costumes are composed of 3/16" Acrylic (for durability); cut to shape using a dremel. Then I applied different color Avery sign vinyls to each extruded part for contrast. The globes themselves are wrapped in yellow and red sign vinyl *A Heat gun is very necessary for that part* To light up the emoji heads I used: 12v white L.E.D. strips w/ individual switch activated power supply. Of Course while they're definitely traffic stoppers... one would still need to see the traffic lol. So I meticulously cut eye holes and airways using mesh vinyl, in a way not to sacrifice the look of my design. The best part is that my family helped me through the entire process.
