Wicked Witch Costume

Ok so i bought a witch costume from a friends costume shop.....then i altered it to fit better. Added length to the bottom and made a broom. I also bought a corset and put over it to dress it up and really add a touch of drama. The broom was a birch branch i got and then added some long branches of leaves at the top i got at Michaels. I wrapped them around one end with florist twine and used a glue gun then spray painted the branch brown. I added small purple fairy lights into it. I took the hat that came with it and wrapped a long piece of material around the top and twined purple fairly lights into it also. For makeup i went to youtube and watched a makeup tutorial that did not require prosthetics and practiced with different he's of green and some yellow and i used black lipstick. I bought fake nails and nail glue and i cut the nails into points and painted them a yellowish green. I wore black velvet ankle boots and black and purple striped legging underneath. I used a black wig and tied the hair back with pieces hanging out. This costume all together including makeup and hair and costume pieces and making that broom was about 250 dollars. The broom alone cost about 100.00 dollars to make. It was a huge hit. I had always loved the Wicked Witch from Wizard of Oz ....i like villains more than the goody goodys. The green makeup was from a costume store. Ben Nye makeup. I try to buy good make up as i have learned Spirit halloween stores and Party City will not work when trying to win a contest, you need good makeup and good brushes. I did win 1st place!
