Sexy Minnie Mouse Costume

I´m Jade and I´m wearing the costume I made myself. I´m originally from Switzerland and moved about a year ago to Susanville, CA.

I made the entire costume by myself. Except for the gloves :-)

I found the shoes at a second hand shop. They were originally white. I sprayed them red and yellow.

For the skirt I made a reversible circle skirt. One side is red and the other side of course red with white dots.
I put 4 layers to my petticoat so it gives the skirt puffiness.

For the top I just used an old bra and sowed the Minnie Mouse fabric to it. It took me a long time because I had to sow it by hand and had to be careful that the stitches won´t show.

I made puff sleeves and filled them with wadding. I sewed an elastic band on it so they stay on my shoulder.

The ears are made out of cardboard and covered with felt. Then I sewed them many many times to a black headband. It was hard to make the ears stand up.

The tale is made out of wire and felt is wrapped around it. I wear it underneath the skirt like a very low belt. The skirt has a whole in the back so I can pull the tale through. At the parties I always hit people by accident with it. And when we took a cab I had to turn the skirt with the tale to the front so I could sit down.

On a plain white thong I sewed some white fabric around it. So it has some ruffles.

Now the most interesting part:

The bow is made out of my hair. Then I painted it black and red with water based acrylic paint. For the dots I put tape on the bow before I painted it red. After the color had dried I took away the tape and my real hair color was showing. Why I took regular acrylic paint and not color spray for hair? First I bought some but the sales woman told me that it wouldn´t wash all the way out because I have bleached very light hair. So I decided to try it with just water based color. I tried it out on two strands in the back and it came out perfectly.

It took me about 5-6 hours to get my hair bow and make up done. Because we went out on Friday and Saturday I slept with the bow on my head. The color got so stiff that it felt like a helmet :-)

It felt sooo good when I finally could wash it all out. Or almost all of it. I already washed my hair two times for a long time but I still have some dried paint pieces in my hair :-) Oh well, it´ll come out sometime.

For the make up I made the typical Minnie Mouse shaped head with black Halloween color. It was hard to get all the black out from my ears. I used the same color for the nose.

For the eye shadow I used different light blue colors and white and blended it in. Then I put on some fake eyelashes.

And some red lipstick and the make up was done.

Because my husband didn´t want to dress up I didn´t have a Mickey Mouse. So I decided to make a cake that looks like a pumpkin and carved Mickey Mouse in the pumpkin cake.
