A word from Monique, the 'Edward Scissor Hands' costume creator:
My nephew is 9 years old and he wanted to be Edward Scissor Hands so bad so I figured I would give it a shot so I went to every thrift store for several weeks collecting belt buckles,I bought a leather jacket from the thrift store and some black jeans and bought some old boots.. I also bought the wig at the goodwill. I went to the dollar tree and bought binder rings and silver plastic knives and two pairs of scissors. I used E6000 glue. And bought 2 pairs of real scissors..
Ok this is how I did it:
Jacket'
I got a bunch of belys cut them had him wear the jacket then glued all the bels exactly where I wanted it I attached binder rings on some of the belts.
Pants:
I also had him put them on I glued the belts on as he was wearing them so I could get an idea where I wanted them but make sure your careful because the glue will go through the pants.
Shoes:
I got some tall boots and glued some of the belts on the boots made it easier instead of glueing more belts to the bottom of the pants.
Necklace:
I measured out one of the belts and cut it added some binder rings to it.
Scissors:
This is the fun part so I took the handles apart from the real scissors I cut the silver plastic knife and I sanded them down until they got slanted like real scissors. I drilled a hole inside them and put a tiny nail to attach the scissors I was afraid they were going to fall apart so I also glued them. Then as soon as I had them looking like scissors I glued them to some black gloves. And they looked so real.
Hair:
I just got a black rocker wig from the goodwill and I had him put it on I cut it and pieced it out with some glue and hair spray.
Makeup:
I watched a tutorial from youtube but I used my mac makeup since it was way lighter then his skin tone I wanted his face to look real instead of using the halloween makeup. I also used a glue stick to hold his eyebrows down covered it up with my Mac foundation you can use any foundation you have. Then I used black eye shadow and made it look grey to reshape his eyebrows and I used it under his eyes. Then I bought some fake skin from Spirit and I used them as scars and on the side of each scar I lighly went along with black eye shadow I used a really thin makeup brush. For his lips I used the same thin brush and I used a dark black eyeshadow so it gave him a matt look. For his cheek bones I also used a light black and brushed it lighty across his cheeks.
Thank you I really enjoyed making this costume me and my nephew had so much fun doing it!
