La Muerte The Book of Life Costume

This is my daughter as La Muerte from the movie The Book of Life. For her hat I used a sombrero from the costume store. I covered it in red material. For the flaps I cut felt and used a paint marker to make the pink designs. For the candles I cut thin white foam from the craft store and hot glued it to small wooden popsicle sticks, taped up tissue paper and rolled it in as I hot glued the foam. I dripped hot glue down the tops to make it look like melted wax. I cut little holes in the material so that I could hot glue the candles directly to the base of the hat for stability. Glued tons of faux flowers, glued the flaps and the feathers. I also added a strand of skull lights from target. For the dress I bought the red dress off amazon. I added the lace sleeves and for the bottom of the dress I used a small hula hoop to keep it round. I drilled small holes to push the candles thru. I also glued the flowers directly onto the dress. For her basket its just a pumpkin basket with flowers glue on. Hope you like it!
