A word from Janet, the 'Headless Scientist' costume creator:
My son Anakin (8) wanted something different this year. We are on a super tight budget so I had to be creative and frugal! I sat pondering what I had around the house that was not your typical zombie, or scarecrow ...... I was thinking bloody doctor at first (because of the white coat) but soon realized the coat was too big for him ..... so that is when the idea came to me! I took his school back pack and zipped 3 rolls of wrapping paper into it. I took a bunch of garbage bags and stuffed the back pack and kept taping them around the back pack and wrapping paper until I had the shape of the body and shoulders. I dressed the back pack in my husbands shirt, tie and the white coat. I had taped the dish gloves to the arms and stuffed them with bags wrapped around a coat hanger wire. I hot glued the plate to the gloves, and tore apart a pillow stuffed with the chunky stuffing, glued that to the plate. I taped a piece of cardboard the size of the neck hole and covered it with pink felt. I filled it with the chunky stuffing added make up and fake blood from the dollar store. All I paid for was the make up and the plate total coast $4
