A word from Laurie, the 'Maleficent' costume creator:
My daughter wanted to be Maleficent for Halloween this year but we couldn't find anything in her size. So we made it ourselves! The clothing was easy...black flowing dress from thrift store and black cape. To make the horns, I took a pair of girls tights and stuffed the legs with fiber fill. I cut a wire coat hanger to "shape" the tights into horns. I then wrapped each leg with black shiny duct tape. This allowed me to create points on each horn. Next, I cut up a plastic gallon milk jug to form to her head and affixed the horns to the container. To finish, I wrapped it all in the black duct tape. Voila! The staff was made by attaching a glittering ball ornament to the end of a stick and wrapping it with more black duct tape. My daughter was thrilled with her costume and struck a magnificent pose for me! Thank you!
