This homemade costume for boys entered our 2013 Halloween Costume Contest.
A word from Steve, the 'Optimus Prime' costume creator:
My 5 year old son is wearing the costume. He came across the 80's version of The Transformers on Netflix and fell in love with Optimus Prime. I have to admit that I have fond memories of the show and toys from my childhood. When he asked to be Optimus Prime I was all in for making it happen. I searched the internet for pictures and drawings of him as well as pictures of costumes other people have made. I then collected cardboard and cereal boxes and went to work cutting, folding, hot gluing and spray painting until he looked he looked like the leader of the Autobots. Materials used: Cardboard boxes, cereal boxes, hot glue sticks, spray paint, Velcro, toy construction helmet and wheels from a beat-up toy truck. Cost $20
