Plastic Toy Soldiers Costume

My fiancé and I decided to do something super out of the ordinary this year. I came across one of my younger brother's toy soldiers while cleaning out a drawer & a light bulb went off in my head. Instantly I knew what my fiancé and I would be for Halloween this year. After googling instructions, my fiancé and I went out and bought a can of priming paint & around 8 spray painting bottles. We each dug into our closets in search of cargo pants, boots & jacket that we really didn't care for and went out to a thrift store to buy our guns & hats. After gathering all of our materials, we went ahead and primed EVERYTHING. 2 coats of primer on each item to give it the desired plastic look that we were going for. After letting it dry for an entire day, we proceeded to the next step which was spray painting EVERYTHING. Our clothing was super stiff so we were a bit nervous about getting in it but we decided to worry about that when fitting time came. Once again, we went over everything with 2 coats to give it that green plastic look. We let everything dry out for another day and a half. Next was the moment of truth, get into our costumes. The first time around it was a bit difficult as everything was stiff, but after moving around a bit, we became more comfortable in our costume. The last step was going out to buy green face paint & green hair spray. Only by doing this would we actually look like Plastic Toy Soldiers. We LOVED our costume & :9 did everyone else! We were encouraged to participate in costume contests & since we just recently got engaged a little less than a month ago, we decided to go for it! :) it was a great Halloween to say the least & I don't know how we'll top this off next year!
