Queen of Hearts and her Card Soldiers Family Costume

This year, we went with the Alice and Wonderland theme. Each year it becomes more and more difficult to out-do last year's costumes. It is always difficult to find group costume ideas for 3 boys and a little girl. I enjoy the challenge of coming up with a common idea that all of the kids will love. My tip to all handmade costumers out there....don't limit your ideas to what you have seen before. It you can think it, you can create it. Although I have seen plenty of Queen of Hearts costumes out there, I have never seen one from the original Disney movie. I used a standard costume dress pattern, but made it my own by creating the original pattern on the front of the dress. The cards were incredibly easy! I just sandwiched an outer fabric and a lining with a quilter's batting in between. Then just sewed the pieces together, leaving open the neck and the arms.
