This homemade costume for babies entered our 2014 Halloween Costume Contest.
A word from Amy, the 'Octobaby' costume creator:
This costume is worn by my three month old baby, Brooke. I came up with the idea of a diver and a sea animal for her and her older brother. I wanted each of the costumes to work together and alone. I first had to decide how to work her arms and legs into the eight tentacles. I then had to make it easy and comfortable for an infant to wear. Due to riding in a car seat I made six of the tentacles to go on like a jacket and the head be worn like a hood. I then made a bodysuit with the other two tentacles where her legs were. I used my embroidery machine to create the spots on the head. Minky material was used on the under side of the tentacles to create the suction cup look. Elastic was sewn into the tentacles to make them curl. Fleece was used for the rest of the costume. Last, what baby girl octopus is complete without a bow. Overall cost for the costume was around $25
